On the following night, Saturday, July 21st, the USCS sprint car drivers then headline racing action in the USCS Sizzlin Summer Speed Spectacular at the historic Lancaster Speedway one-half mile clay oval in Lancaster, South Carolina. The K&N Filters sponsored United Sprint Car Series "Outlaw Thunder" Tour presented by K&N Filters sprint cars will roar into the fast 3/8-mile high-banked red-clay tri-oval for the 2018 version of the Dixie Sprint Car Nationals speed spectacular.
In the evenings preliminary action, Terry Gray kicked off the nights USCS sprint car action by winning the 6-lap USCS Hoosier Tire Speed Dash. Additionally, Scott Hunter from Concord, North Carolina who was the 2017 USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series Rookie of the Year, is entered and as well. The sprint car racing action will include test and tune hot laps followed by the evening's first sprint car race, the Hoosier Tire USCS Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-lap shootout.
Mallett kicked off his good fortunes with a win in the 8-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. 29b-Johnny Bridges Butlerbuilt Third Heat (8 Laps) 1. Lee Moore from Tuscaloosa, Alabama who was the 2007 USCS Southern Thunder Rookie of the Year is expected as well. The dash will be followed by a series of qualifying heat races for te sprint cars.
Justin Barger claimed the victory in the 8-lap Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat. Another young gun who has had improved success in 2018 USCS competition is Kyle Amerson from Montgomery, Alabama who was the Southern Outlaw Sprints series 2016 Rookie of the Year driver. 44c-Chase Howard USCS Hoosier Tire Speed Dash (6 Laps) 1. from Charlotte, North Carolina finished in the K&N Filters Podium Award third position. She is also the Dixie Sprint Car Nationals 2016 Champion. Myers, Florida will travel North for the event to try to improve on his fifth-place position in the current National point standings. The USCS Mid-South regional series competes in Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
The eleven-time USCS National Champion, Terry gray from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in fourth place and Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina completed the top five. 38-Tony Agin 10th Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race Maon Eent- (27 Laps) 1. Additional expected Florida entries include the 2015 USCS Rookie of the Year, Nick Snyder from Marco Island, Florida. The event at Columbus Speedway is expected to draw some of the top ranked drivers in North America.
Entries from seven or more states are expected for both nights that include drivers from as far away as Arkansas and Florida. The event also has new significance as the speedway has been selected to host the 10th Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race presented by Fire Ade on Saturday night.
The USCS sprint cars are joined on the busy racing card by a full program of stock car racing each night as well, to create two action-packed nights of dirt oval track racing action.
